Thanksgiving Day

Today is the day.
Ask a dozen people what the holiday means to them, and every answer might be different. It’s a day for family, feasting, and football. And oh yeah, being thankful.
Granny makes the best turkey stuffing in the world. Mom always cooks the turkey. Aunt Susie bakes the pies, and brother John’s family will arrive with the mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans.
We can be thankful for the feast and those who made it possible. We can be thankful for the football game that the cable company and TV network brings to our bigscreen TV.
What am I most thankful for? What I value most.
Jesus said, “If you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, you can be sure your heavenly Father will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.” — Luke 11:13, from Eyewitness: The Life of Christ Told in One Story
I’m thankful for the greatest gift of all: to know God and live close to him.
