Samantha took to heart the prophet’s words to “wait upon the Lord for the renewal of her strength” (Isaiah 40:31). So she waited and waited. A week passed, then and month, and finally a year. Still, she waited.
Finally she realized she needed a better emphasis on waiting. No longer was she interested in being like the sailor’s wife, waiting for the arrival of her husband’s ship, which would never come. Instead of standing idle, she needed to be doing something.
She decided to do her waiting as a waitress in a restaurant, and in doing that work, she found strength.
We know exercise builds strength. Instead of waiting to be served, should we put on our work clothes as we wait upon the Lord, becoming people who serve?
