1 Kings 10:1; Jonah 1:17; Luke 11:14–36
One day, Jesus met a man who was unable to speak because of an evil spirit. At Jesus’ command, the evil spirit left, and the man began to speak. The crowd was amazed. Some of them said, “He gets his authority from Beelzebub, the ruler of evil spirits.” Others wanted to test him by asking for a miraculous sign from Heaven.

Aware of what they were thinking, he said, “A kingdom working against itself will soon be destroyed. Any city or family who fights internally cannot last very long. If Satan wars against himself, his kingdom cannot survive. You say Beelzebub gives me power over evil spirits. If Beelzebub is my power over evil spirits, by whom do your followers cast them out? They prove you have a double standard of judgment. But if I cast out evil spirits by the Spirit of God, the Kingdom of God has come unto you.

Luke 11:17–20 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth. If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub. And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.

That person is worse off than before.”

Just as Jonah was a sign to the people of Nineveh, so shall the Son of Man be to this generation. The Queen of Sheba will testify and condemn this generation, because she came from far away to hear the wisdom of Solomon. Now someone wiser than Solomon is here, but you refuse to listen. The people of Nineveh give evidence to condemn this generation, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah. Behold, someone greater than Jonah is here, but you do not repent.

For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation. The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
“People do not light a lamp and hide it under a bowl. It is placed on a stand to give light to everyone in the house. Your eyes are like a lamp for the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, darkness fills your body. So make certain that the light you think you have is not actually darkness. If your whole body is filled with light, with no darkness in the corners, your life will radiate the light like a lamp on a stand that brightens your whole house.”
Luke 11:33–36 “People do not light a lamp and hide it under a bowl. It is placed on a stand to give light to everyone in the house. Your eyes are like a lamp for the body. Luke 11:33–36 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.
