I heard the preacher pray before the offering, saying, “Thank you, Lord, for the chance to give a little back.” Those are good words. I’ve heard them many times, but I wonder if some people might be missing the most important aspect of giving.
If Jesus said, “If you’re not willing to give everything, you can’t be my disciple” (Luke 14:33), and if we understood the value of giving, how giving is a greater blessing than getting, I doubt we would be thanking God for the “little” we can give.
Wouldn’t we be thinking in other terms—how everything God has given to us is an opportunity to give?
